The golf green

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

In German, the word golf green stands for both the color and the so-called English green on which the golf hole is located. The golf green is the shortest cut grass area (two to five millimeters) that can be found on the golf course. As a rule, the golf green is cut at least every two days during the grass growth period using so-called cylinder mowers. The speed of a golf green is measured in stimpmeters. The aim on the golf green is ultimately to get the golf ball into the hole. The hole is marked by the flag stuck in it. If the area around the hole on the golf green is very worn, the hole can be moved. At major tournaments, the hole and flag position is reset each day. The structure of a golf green consists of different layers. Usually a gravel layer, turf base layer and the actual turf surface.
