Golf Texas wedge

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

When a golfer uses his putter off the green, it is referred to as a golf Texas wedge. The term was coined by Ben Hogan. When he was active and successful on the US Tour, several tournaments were held on Texas courses, which were notorious for their hard and fast fairways, greens and greens. Hogan therefore played it safe and instead of chipping his golf ball, he usually putted it. Even today, the Golf Texas Wedge is still used regularly, for example in St. Andrews at major tournaments, as a putt on the notorious links course is much easier to control than a pitch or a chip.
