The only way to officially pick up the golf ball while playing a hole is on the green. To do this, you must first mark the ball to indicate its position. Golf marking should be done with a flat, round object that is as small as possible. Coins or specially made ball markers are very suitable for this. The marker must be placed in the extension of the putting line, just behind the ball, so that it does not move. When the ball is put back, it must be placed in exactly the same place from where it was picked up, only then may the marker be removed. If a golf ball is not marked and is hit by another player, the player who putted the ball receives a penalty stroke. If a ball is in your way, ask your teammate to mark his ball accordingly. You can also mark outside the green under various special rules. These include, for example, a temporary water hazard, an unplayable ball or if you have to identify your own ball.
