The golf dogleg

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

This is the name given to a fairway where the fairway slopes to the left or right. The term golf dogleg comes from the English language and translates as dog leg. This is intended to express the curved shape of the golf hole. A golf dogleg is usually found on par 4 or par 5 holes. There are golf doglegs which have a bend of up to 90°. Some golf doglegs are even built in such a way that they curve twice. Either in the same direction or once to the right and once to the left. The length of a golf dogleg is always measured along the center line of the fairway. In terms of play, however, a dogleg can often be mastered with a shorter shot length, as the golfer can shorten the curve. Of course, this only works if there are no obstacles in the way or the golfer has a sufficiently long golf shot for the situation in question.
