The golf buffer zone

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

When overplaying a handicap in a tournament, there is an area in which the golfer's handicap does not deteriorate despite overplaying. This protected area is also called the golf buffer zone and is divided into the different handicap classes as follows. In handicap class 1 (up to -4.4) you have 1 stroke buffer, in handicap class 2 (-4.5 to -11.4) you have 2 strokes buffer, in handicap class 3 (-11.5 to -18.4) you have 3 strokes buffer, in handicap class 4 (-18.5 to -26.4) you have 4 strokes buffer and in handicap class 5 (-26.5 to -36.0) you even have 5 strokes buffer. If you do not reach this golf buffer zone, your handicap is increased by 0.1 points. From handicap -36 to -54 you can no longer worsen your handicap.
