Out- of- Bounds

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

The English term out-of-bounds means "outside the area belonging to the playing area". Out of bounds is marked by white posts or fences. If the ball lands on this area, it may no longer be played. However, the golfer may stand in the out-of-bounds area to play a golf ball that is not in the out-of-bounds area. The out-of-bounds line runs on the side of the course in line with the inside of the marker. The golf ball is always in the out-of-bounds when it has crossed this alignment line with its entire circumference. In contrast to soccer, for example, a ball is out of bounds even if it is still touching the line. The golf ball must touch the field, the out-of-bounds line would not be sufficient. If the ball is out of bounds, the golfer must return to the last hitting area to drop a ball and continue playing. He must add a penalty stroke to his scorecard. If, for example, you hit off the tee and into the out-of-bounds area, the 3rd shot will follow. A golfer ultimately loses two strokes.
