Dress code for golf - Golf etiquette
Wearing blue jeans on the golf course, for example, is a taboo rooted in old British golfing tradition. According to golf etiquette, this and many other dress code rules still apply today at many golf clubs around the world. The dress code in golf has partly practical and partly traditional origins. Blue jeans, for example, used to be considered workers' and middle-class trousers and were therefore not accepted by the elite upper class of golfing society. But blue jeans were also very heavy in the past and not at all suitable for any kind of sporting activity.
