Why do you have to rake the bunker according to golf etiquette?
After a golfer has hit his ball out of a bunker, he must carefully rake the bunkers to level out any marks left behind. The aim is to ensure that every player on the golf course or every participant in a golf tournament has the same and fair playing conditions. If the ball comes to rest in a footprint or similar in a bunker that is not properly leveled, it is almost impossible to control and therefore very difficult or even impossible to play. This can lead to many unnecessary shots and would therefore be a clear disadvantage for the player concerned. A bunker shot is very difficult from the ground up, especially for golf amateurs, and a bunker that has not been raked clean according to golf etiquette is almost unplayable.
Therefore, please always smooth out the bunker with a rake and leave it tidy again so that no indentations remain!
