The John Deere Classic is a golf tournament in the USA and is always held in July, the week before the British Open. The tournament was first played in 1971 and has been part of the US PGA Tour since 1972. John Deere has been the title sponsor of the John Deere Classic since 1999. The golf tournament made history in the USA when it allowed the female teenager Michelle Wie to play in the men's tournament in 2005.
