Break - DGV golf rules

a) Hole play
On each day of a hole competition, one player may practice on the course before a round.

b) Counting game
Before a round or a play-off on any day of stroke play, a competitor may not practice on the course or test the surface of any green on the course by rolling a ball or roughing or scratching the surface.

If two or more rounds of stroke play are played on consecutive days, between those rounds ( break ) a competitor is not permitted to practice or test the surface of any green by rolling a ball or roughening or scratching the surface on any course that must still be played in the further course of the stroke play.

Exception:
Putting or chipping for practice purposes on or near the first tee is permitted prior to playing a round or play-off.

PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF RULE 7-1b: Disqualification.

Note: The Director of Golf may prohibit practice on the course on any day of a stroke play competition (Rule 33-1) or permit practice on the course or parts of the course (Rule 33-2c) on any day or between rounds of a stroke play competition.
