Equal results - DGV golf rules

"The match director must announce the type, day and hour of the play-off in the case of halved hole play or a tie in stroke play as well as play-offs with or without a handicap.
In the case of halved hole play, no play-off by count play is permitted. In the event of a tie in stroke play, no play-off by hole play is permitted."²

According to the Rules of Golf, equal scores at the end of a round of golf therefore lead to a so-called play-off, in which the winner of the golf competition is finally determined. The type of golf play-off is determined and precisely defined in advance by the game management. Either a defined distribution of points can influence the decision or the players compete against each other again on so-called extra holes. In professional sport, it is common for a sudden death match to be played in the event of a tie between two or more golfers. The winner is the player who is the first to win a hole or who alone has needed the fewest strokes on a hole. At the US Golf Open, a play-off is traditionally held the next day over the entire 18 holes. However, this is a rarity.
