The Golf- Unplayable

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

Except in a water hazard, a golf ball can be declared unplayable by the player at any time. However, this is always associated with the addition of a penalty stroke. After the ball has been declared unplayable, there are three options for a golfer. Either he goes back to the last hitting area and places a ball there again or he drops a ball on the extension line between the original position of the ball and the flag position or he drops the ball within two club lengths no closer to the flag from where the ball lies. If a ball is unplayable in the bunker, it must be dropped again in the bunker. It is not permitted to declare the ball unplayable and drop it out of the bunker. Declaring a ball unplayable often makes sense and can ultimately save strokes and save the result despite the penalty stroke.
