Official EU notice on the legal guarantee of conformity
LEGAL GUARANTEE Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union. Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods: do not match the description; do not function as intended. Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer: free repair or free replacement; in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement. Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year. For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller. europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees What to do if you receive non-conforming goods: 1 Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue; 2 Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement. Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.

Golf wedges for a perfect short game around the green

With every shot, you get closer to the green and the long-awaited hole. So it's no surprise that the focus shifts from long shots to short, precise ones. Around the green itself, it becomes more and more important to steer the ball towards the hole with well-aimed shots. Wedges are the type of golf club best suited to these shots. They are played above all for the tricky shots around the green, out of bunkers and from other difficult lies.

Wedges have a high loft of around 48° to 60° on the clubface. Standard sets mainly include the pitching wedge and sand wedge.

Our branded wedges

The big brands regularly tackle the development of new innovations: Callaway, Nike Golf, Titleist, Taylor Made and Cleveland are constantly developing new designs and using new materials to make shots around the green better and more consistent. The following new clubs are now available:

    • Tommy Armour Hot Scot: This club is designed to generate lots of backspin and offers great value for money.
    • Taylor Made Rocketballz: Designed to play all the important shots around the green: chips, pitches, flops, recovery shots from bunkers and rough, and approach shots from poor lies.
    • Taylor Made R11: High ball speeds and lots of spin for mid to high handicappers.
    • Wilson FG Tour: This club is designed for improved spin control.
    • Ping G20: Ping improves the feel and distance control of its golf wedges.
    • Nike VR Pro Forged Dual Sole: Nike focuses entirely on good, stable power transfer at impact.
    • Mizuno MP T11 White Satin Wedge: Thanks to a CNC-milled clubface, Mizuno is able to deliver more traction on shorter shots.
    • Callaway Forged Chrome: All Callaway clubs, including this type, offer lots of control, spin and feel.

This brief overview of today's wedges and their manufacturers immediately shows how versatile, yet unique, a golf club is these days. This makes it increasingly important to know exactly what you want to do with your club. Ask your golf professional for advice, or think for yourself about what is missing from your game.

Custom wedge fitting

If you are not entirely happy with your club, you can start by having it fitted. Fitting adjusts the club entirely to the needs of your own swing and posture. This way, your specific requirements are taken into account.

If you are now increasingly keen to buy and test a golf wedge, we can once again only recommend one thing: the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Ideally, find out all about the range and the different characteristics first. Then you can test at your leisure. And if you are still not quite sure, practice makes perfect. With every practice session, you will feel more feedback and control over your club. Let yourself be surprised and start controlling your club more and more.

Golf wedges: loft and bounce

When choosing the right wedge, the right loft and the matching bounce are important. The loft of a golf wedge describes the angle of the clubface. As mentioned, this ranges from around 48° to 60°, depending on the manufacturer. A pitching wedge usually has 48° of loft. The gap wedge has 52° and the sand wedge 56°. The lob wedge, which lets you play very high shots around the green, usually has 60° of loft. Bounce is independent of loft and at Golf24.com can usually be selected in different degrees. The rule is: the higher the bounce, the better suited the club is to shots from sand or longer grass. The lower the bounce, the easier it is to play the club from closely mown or hard surfaces.

Golf wedges: what is bounce?

Ultimately, bounce describes the angle between the leading edge and the trailing edge of a golf club's sole. The higher the bounce, the further the leading edge of the wedge sits off the ground when the club is grounded. This helps the club glide better through sand or longer semi-rough, for example.

  • Golf wedges: pro buying tip

Choose your loft-to-bounce ratio as follows:

    • Lob wedge: 60° loft and around 4° bounce. Less bounce allows very high shots from hard ground around the green
    • Sand wedge: 56° loft and around 14° bounce. Plenty of bounce lets the club glide easily through the sand, for successful greenside bunker shots.
    • Gap wedge: 52° loft and around 8° bounce. A medium bounce lets you use the gap wedge from many different lies, as an all-round "weapon" around the green, but also from longer distances of up to 80 metres on the fairway.
