Golf balls differ primarily in their degree of golf compression and the number of shells used. The degree of compression is the measure of the pressure with which a golf ball with a standard weight and a standard swing speed is deformed. The golf compression is indicated on the packaging of almost all golf ball manufacturers and ranges from 80 or 90 (soft) to 100 and 110 (very hard). Which ball is ultimately suitable for a golfer depends primarily on the level of play. There are now also so-called golf ball fittings. Just like the golf club fitting, these serve to work out the right material for the golfer. The golf compression plays a decisive role, especially for the flight behavior of a golf ball.
