The term "golf girlie" is used in golfing parlance when a male golfer misses a tee shot and the ball he hits does not even make it over the tee markers of the shortest ladies' tee. Golf girlie is also referred to as "lady" or "Dame" in German-speaking countries. If a golfer has hit a lady it is customary to invite the other players in his flight for a drink in the clubhouse after the round of golf. On many golf holes, there are sometimes extreme differences in length between men's and ladies' tees. For example, there may well be a distance of around two hundred meters between the men's champion's tee and the shortest ladies' tee. This would make it easier for a golf girlie to hit a successful tee shot, although it can be assumed that players who play from the back tee are usually able to achieve corresponding shot lengths and do not allow themselves to make mistakes.
