In a hole competition, each player has the opportunity to give his opponent a putt. This gifted putt is called a golf gimme. It is always up to the player whether and when to give his opponent a golf gimme. This must be weighed up carefully and tactically adapted to the situation. However, putts are usually only gimmeted when the golf ball is so close to the hole that it is almost impossible not to hole the putt. However, according to the official rules of golf, a golf gimme only exists in a one-hole competition. In a handicap counting competition or other tournaments, putts may not be gimmeted, or the player must take care of holing the putt himself. You may only pick up a ball if you are unable to score any points on the respective hole in a Stableford counting game.
