The tournament highlight of the year at every golf club in Germany is the annual Golf Club Championship. The Golf Club Championship is an internal club competition in which only members of the respective golf club may participate. At the Golf Club Championship, the best golfer of the club is determined in different age groups and separated by gender. The men's competition usually takes place over three 18-hole gross counting rounds. All other winners are usually determined over two rounds of gross counting play. Young players can win their own youth competition as well as the ladies' or men's competition. This is also possible for seniors. The Golf Club Championships are usually held nationwide on one of the first weekends in September. Winning the Golf Club Championship is one of the greatest successes a club amateur can achieve. Every winner is recorded on a plaque of honor in the clubhouse.
