The Golf Break

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

This is the term used to describe the curve or deviation from a straight line that the rolling golf ball makes when the green is not level. In German, the ball breaks to the left or to the right. To be able to recognize the strength of the golf break, you have to be able to read the green. This means recognizing in which direction there is a slope and how much the golf ball will take on this slope. In addition to the slope, the direction in which the grass grows also plays a role, albeit a subordinate one, in calculating the golf break, as does the speed of the green. Many years of experience are the key to being able to recognize a break quickly. For golf beginners, it is very difficult to recognize the sometimes extreme deviations of the ball from the straight line to the hole. The golf break is usually underestimated by inexperienced and inexperienced golfers.
