Lipping out - the annoyance of every golfer

For many golfers, it is a horror when a putt fails - but if the ball heads straight for the hole and then bounces back next to the hole, the frustration is more than great. But this phenomenon does not occur all too rarely, it is known as golf slipping. Whether you are a beginner or a professional player, this behavior can happen to anyone. Of course, you can't avoid it completely, but there are a few tips and tricks to get the ball into the hole. First of all, however, we should give you an expert explanation of the term golf flip:

Technical definition of golf lipping

In a golf hole, an edge of earth always protrudes over the edge of the plastic sleeve, the upper edge of which is known as the lip. The English term "lip out" is loosely translated into German as Golf- Auslippen. A ball that appears to already be in the hole rolls out of it and usually makes a round around the hole and comes to rest on the side or even in front of the hole. In most cases, the ball is played at too high a speed and is not hit far enough towards the center of the hole. For a golfer, slipping is one of the most annoying ways of not sinking a ball in the hole. Just a few millimetres can make the difference between success and failure. On professional tours in particular, you often see golf balls that flip just before falling into the hole.
You can only avoid such an annoying situation if you align the ball more centrally to the hole and reduce your speed. Of course, practicing putting always helps here! Otherwise, you simply have to take it sportingly if the golf ball should flip.
