The Thomas E. Wilson Company was founded in 1914, but existed prior to that under the name Ashland Manufacturing Company. Since 1989, Wilson Sporting Goods has been part of the American publicly traded conglomerate Amer Sports. The Amer Sports group also includes well-known companies such as Suunto, Atomic, Precor, Arcteryx, and Mavic. The Wilson brand, with nearly a century of history, has had a greater impact on tennis, baseball, American football, and golf than on most other sports. Soccer, fastpitch, slowpitch, badminton, basketball, squash, and volleyball are also among the sports in which Wilson is now active.
