With every shot, you get closer and closer to the green and the long-awaited golf hole. It is therefore not surprising that the interest in the long shot now turns into short, precise shots. Around the green itself, it becomes increasingly important to hit the ball towards the hole with targeted shots. Wedge golf clubs are particularly suitable for these shots. They are mainly used for difficult shots around the green or from bunkers or other difficult positions.
The club faces of wedges have a large loft of approx. 48° to 60°. The pitching and sand wedges in particular belong to the standard sets.
Our brand wedges
The major brands regularly attack the development of new innovations: Callaway, Nike Golf, Titleist, Taylor Made and Cleveland are constantly developing new designs and using new materials to make shots around the green better and more stable. The following new clubs are now available:
This brief overview of the wedges produced today and their manufacturers makes it immediately clear how versatile but unique a golf club is nowadays. It is therefore becoming increasingly important to know exactly what you want to do with your club. Ask your golf instructor for advice or think for yourself about what your golf game needs.
Individual wedges club fitting
If you are not completely satisfied with your club, you can also have your club fitted first. The fitting adjusts the club entirely to the needs of your own swing and posture. This allows you to take your specific needs into account.
If you are now more and more interested in buying and testing a golf wedge, we can only recommend one thing: The proof of the pudding is in the eating. It is best to find out more about the range and the different features. Then you can test them at your leisure. If you're still not quite sure - practice makes perfect. With every training session, you will feel more feedback and control over your racket. Let yourself be surprised and start to control the racket more and more.
Wedges Golf Loft and Bounce
The right loft and the corresponding bounce are important when choosing the right wedge. The loft of a golf wedge describes the angle of the clubface. As described, this ranges from approx. 48° to 60°, depending on the manufacturer. A pitching wedge usually has a 48° loft. The so-called gap wedge has 52° and the sand wedge 56°. The lob wedge, with which you can play very high shots around the green, usually has a 60° loft. The bounce is independent of the loft number and can usually be selected in different degrees at golf-shop.de. The higher the bounce, the better the club is suited for shots from the sand or higher grass. The lower the bounce, the easier the club can be played from short mown or hard surfaces.
Wedges Golf: What is the bounce?
The bounce ultimately describes the angle between the front and rear edge of the sole of a golf club. The higher the bounce, the more the front edge of the wedge protrudes from the ground when it hits the ground. This results in the club gliding better through sand or higher semi-rough, for example.
