The syndicate is often held in the run-up to professional tournaments. Selected players from the tournament usually compete against each other on the Tuesday of the tournament week. These are usually the crowd pullers or the top players in the world rankings. Of course, a syndicate can also be played by amateurs and in private rounds.
Syndicate rules
Any number of players can take part, but each player always has his own ball. Each hole in a syndicate is normally played for a certain amount of money. Amateurs play for a stake that is still permitted under the rules. The hole is won by the single best ball, i.e. whoever achieves the lowest number of strokes. If a hole is shared, no one receives the stake. The stake is used for the next hole and played there. The game is often supplemented by the player with the worst score on a hole being eliminated from the competition. It can be played in both gross and net scoring. The following handicap distribution is recommended in the net classification: the ¾ remaining handicap of a player is distributed over the most difficult holes.
