Flag Competition: Types of play in golf

flag-competition

This type of competition is a counting game in which the player plays as many strokes as he is entitled to from his handicap and the respective course standard according to the buzzer. If a player has a handicap of 28 and is playing on a golf course with a par 72, he must finish the round after 100 strokes.

Winner of the flag competition

The flag competition is over when the player has reached this number of strokes. This is often the case in the middle of the golf course. This point is then marked with a flag. If the strokes have not yet been used up on the 18th hole, the player continues playing on hole 1 until all the clubs have been used up and he or she can put their flag down. The winner of the flag competition is the player whose flag is furthest forward.
