Correct behavior during thunderstorms - Golf etiquette

Richtiges Verhalten bei Gewitter - Golf-Etikette

Behavior during thunderstorms

What is my behavior, according to golf etiquette, when a thunderstorm is approaching on the golf course?
A thunderstorm on the course is a very great danger for all golfers and people on the course! The open areas, but above all the underground water pipes for watering the golf course and the metal of the golf clubs attract dangerous lightning. Therefore, if a thunderstorm is approaching on the course, the round of golf must be stopped immediately and, if possible, quickly seek shelter in the clubhouse or other buildings.

If this is no longer possible, many golf courses have so-called lightning protection huts. Visit these in good time during a thunderstorm. Golf equipment should be stored at a safe distance from the hut. If no shelter or similar is available, never seek shelter under trees. Lie down or kneel flat on the ground to minimize the risk of lightning strikes. After the thunderstorm has passed, the round can then be continued as usual.
