How, where and who administers the handicap in accordance with the correct behavior in golf?
Handicap management is the responsibility of the golfer's home club or association . There are various types of golf membership that include handicap management. Ordinary memberships, long-distance memberships, guest memberships, monthly memberships or annual memberships. Regardless of the type of membership, as soon as a player is in possession of a DGV card, their handicap is automatically managed at the respective golf club.
The handicap is monitored centrally via the intranet of the German Golf Association. All data from the golf clubs and golf courses that are members of the DGV are entered here and therefore also all current handicap improvements and deteriorations of an amateur golfer. This data is stored and can be retrieved by any golf course at any time. This makes it possible, for example, to see whether a green fee guest has the necessary handicap to be allowed to play on a golf course.
