The Womens British Open, which is held in Great Britain, is part of the European women's tour and the American LPGA Tour. The Womens British Open was launched by the Ladies Golf Union in 1976. With the exception of the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, it was initially difficult to find prestigious venues. Since 1994, the Womens British Open has also been an official tournament of the LPGA Tour.
