Together with the LPGA Championship, the Ladies British Open and the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the Golf Ladies US Open is one of the most important tournaments in women's golf and one of the four major tournaments. The tournament has been organized by the USGA since 1950 and has been a fixture in American professional golf ever since. Major golf tournaments such as the Ladies US Open are almost as popular in the USA as games of basketball or baseball.
