The Ladies Swiss Open was held for the first time in 1996 as part of the European Ladies Tour. The winner back then was Sophie Gustafson from Sweden. Unfortunately, golf tournaments in Switzerland then received little support, with the result that the Ladies Swiss Open was no longer held from 1998 to 2006. Since 2007, however, the tournament has once again been an integral part of the ladies' tour in Europe and is always held at Golf Gerre Losone. The German pro Bettina Hauert was also able to add her name to the list of winners of golf tournaments in Switzerland in 2007 with a score of 3 under par.
