Professional and amateur golfers - Golf etiquette

profigolfer-amateur

According to golf etiquette, is a professional allowed to accompany an amateur at a tournament?
Professional golf and amateur golf are very different from each other. Even the Rules of Golf differ in some details between the two camps. An amateur is therefore not permitted to take his coach or any other golf professional with him as an advisor or caddy on a tournament round. However, a professional may accompany an amateur on the sidelines of a tournament as a spectator and motivator. However, he may not actively intervene in the game or give advice concerning the game.

However, so-called professional and amateur tournaments are an exception to this rule. Here it is common for a professional golfer to take part in a tournament together with one or more amateurs. In this case, professional and amateurs form a team together and the professional golfer has the opportunity to help the amateurs with tips and tricks during the round. At such Pro Am tournaments, there are usually three scores. A team ranking, a golf pro individual ranking and an individual ranking for the amateurs.
