The composition of the flight at golf tournaments is always a matter for the tournament organizers. After the mode of play has been announced in the announcement in accordance with golf etiquette, the playing groups are also put together according to this. This is usually done by a special golf computer tournament program. Normally a tournament is played according to ascending handicap, i.e. the best players start first, the higher handicap at the end.
In tournaments with several rounds, this hole sequence is then usually adapted to the results and the tournament is started in reverse order, so that the tournament leaders are the last to start the round. This is the rule, especially in professional competitions on the 3rd and 4th day of the tournament. The golf flight composition on days 1 and 2, on the other hand, follows the same pattern: the flight partners remain the same on both days, starting once in the morning and once in the afternoon. In amateur tournaments, according to golf etiquette, it is also possible to start in so-called high-medium-low. This means that a high handicap plays together with a medium handicap and a good handicap.
