a) Determination of court and other boundaries
The match management must precisely designate
(I) the course and the out of bounds;
(II) the boundaries of water hazards and lateral water hazards;
(III) ground in repair;
(IV) obstacles and features of the course.
b) New holes
New holes should be set on the day on which a scoring match begins and otherwise at the discretion of the Match Director, ensuring that all competitors in a given round play all holes in the same position.
Exception: If it is impossible to restore a damaged hole so that it corresponds to the explanation "hole", the match director may have a new hole placed in a similar position.
Note: If the same round is played over more than one day, the match director may stipulate in the invitation (Rule 33-1) that holes and tees may be located differently on each day of the competition, provided that all holes and tees are in the same place for all competitors on the day in question.
c) Practice area
Where a practice area outside the area of a competition course is not available, the course management should, where practicable, designate the area on which players may practice on each day of a competition. As a general rule, the course management should not permit play on or onto a green or from an obstacle on the course on any day of a scoring match.
d) Unplayable course
If the course management or its authorized representatives are of the opinion that the course is unplayable for any reason or that proper play is impossible under the circumstances, they may order a temporary suspension of play in stroke play or counting play or, in counting play, declare the game null and void and cancel the stroke counts for the round in question. If a round is annulled, all penalties for this round are also annulled.
(Procedure for interruption and resumption of play - see Rules 6-8).
