Is there a restriction on the number of members in the golf club?
There is no official restriction on memberships and therefore the number of members permitted in a golf club. Experts consider around 800 active golf club members to be the ideal guideline for optimum utilization and financing of an 18-hole golf course. As the majority of golf courses in Germany have too few rather than too many members, there is probably no need to think about such a limit.
There are only a few golf courses in Germany that no longer accept members or, if they do, then often only selected and financially strong or well-known personalities. However, this is only the case at a fraction of the golf clubs that can afford to limit Golf memberships in this way. Most clubs are happy to welcome new members and sometimes also sell so-called long-distance memberships, which generate additional income for the clubs and enable all golfers to purchase a low-cost membership.
