Golf side bets offer golfers additional forms of play during a round. The two best-known golf side bets are the longest drive and the nearest to the pin competition. However, games such as Nearest- to- the- Line or Beat- the- Pro are also becoming more and more popular and are increasingly being incorporated into tournaments for amateur golfers. These are usually additional games at no extra cost to the participant. The prizes for the winners are usually sponsored by the tournament organizers. However, there are also competitions in which golfers have to make a financial contribution in advance. The so-called birdie pool, for example, is such an additional golf bet. Here, a certain amount of money is paid in, which goes into a pot, which in turn is divided among all players who achieve a birdie and have paid in.
