Golf yips are a malfunction in the brain and therefore an internal obstacle that is mentally induced. World-famous golf professionals suffered from yips and were usually only able to overcome it after painstaking work, often with the help of psychologists. Probably the best-known professional golfer to suffer from yips was Bernhard Langer. In contrast to other players who gave up golf, he managed to overcome the golf yips. Among other things, experimenting with different grip and club variations helped him to do so. These have resulted in putter models and putt variations that are still established on the market today. Putter models with extra-long shafts or the so-called cross-handed grip are among the aids that are intended to solve golf yips and other putting problems.
