So-called out-x-ten or x-out golf balls do not have a consecutive embossed number, but an X printed above the brand name of the ball. These balls come from overproduction or do not meet the visual quality requirements of the manufacturer. Flight characteristics are usually not affected and so golf X-balls can be interesting bargains. When buying such balls, however, it is important to note that they are not permitted in competitions. It is therefore advisable to buy balls in the same price segment that can also be used in competitions. The list of approved balls is published annually by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Golf X balls have never been on any of these lists in history and probably never will be in the future.
