There has been a world ranking list for professional golfers since 1986. The German Bernhard Langer from Anhausen near Augsburg was the first ever world number one. Every Monday, the golf ranking is recalculated taking into account the US PGA TOUR, the PGA European Tour, the Asia Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Japan Golf Tour and the South African Sunshine Tour. The top rankings from the "second leagues" are also taken into account. Of course, there is not only the world ranking list, each professional tour has its own golf ranking list, and there are also a number of ranking lists in the amateur sector.
