A golf proette is a professional golfer whose profession is the game of golf, i.e. who earns her money with her own golf game or with the golf game of others. A distinction is made between a playing proette and a teaching proette. A playing proette plays tournaments and finances her income with prize money won and sponsorship money. To become a playing proette, you have to achieve a handicap of -2 as an amateur. A Teaching Proette, on the other hand, earns her living by teaching other golfers. She is therefore a golf teacher. To be allowed to take the necessary golf teacher training course, you must have a handicap of -6 as an amateur. The training then takes three years and is supervised and organized in Germany by the PGA of Germany. The male golf pro is the pro, who can also play or teach. There is no gender segregation for teaching pros, whereas there is a separate men's and women's tour for playing pros.
