The best amateurs worldwide have handicaps up to about plus six. With a handicap of minus 6, for example, it is now possible to start training to become a qualified golf instructor. A handicap of minus two is required to become a playing professional immediately. A certain amount of time and intensive training is almost unavoidable to become a golf professional.
