The Golf Balk

Geschrieben von: Christoph Knapp | |

When addressing the golf ball, it often happens that a player interrupts his shot again due to a disturbance such as aircraft noise, other players or spectators. This interruption of the golf shot is known as a golf balk. The term golf balk, like most golf terms, comes from the English language and not only stands for the interruption of a golf shot, but also for regathering and concentrating before the shot in order to avoid a miss at all costs. The golf beam, i.e. breaking off, does not result in a penalty when playing golf. A shot that is started but aborted is not counted. However, if you break off too often, this can lead to a time delay and thus to a warning, penalty strokes or even disqualification.
