The golf orientation

Golf alignment: The matter of force and the physical explanation

If you want to hit a golf ball, you need other things in addition to the golf ball. These include a club, for example. But even with this small set of golf equipment, you still can't see a ball fly. In addition to the ball and the golf club, the golfer must also adopt a suitable position for hitting the ball. This is because the flying of the golf ball is a result of the dynamic movements of the golfer with the golf club and the resulting forces acting on the ball. It is therefore important that the force can be transferred correctly so that the ball can fly into the air.

The correct golf alignment

Now we know what has to happen during a golf shot, but how can we ensure that the dynamic forces can act correctly on the golf ball? Simply explained: stand in front of the ball so that you hit it and swing the club. But of course, it is precisely this process that is the most important and decisive factor when trying to play golf. This process is called golf alignment. In addition to the correct alignment of the body in front of the small round ball and to the target, golf alignment also refers to the position of the club face.

The alignment for a long, straight flight should therefore be as follows:

1. stand at right angles to the target when viewed from the club face 2. and the foot line, pelvic line and shoulder line should be parallel to the target line from the ball to the flag.
Of course, you have to learn and internalize this process - only when the golf alignment is perfect can the ball follow a straight, long trajectory. In addition to the correct alignment, the correct execution of the shot or swing is of course always crucial. Read more about this in our specific technical article or watch a training video to find out how to do this correctly. You can often draw conclusions about the correct or incorrect execution of a golf shot from the flight of the ball. Here you can get help and support from your golf instructor.
