What does the term ace mean?
A golf ace is also colloquially known as a hole-in-one. Every golfer's dream is to hole the ball with just one shot from the tee! There are different levels of difficulty due to the different distances of the fairways - known as PAR. A hole-in-one on a par 3 golf hole is equivalent to an eagle, on a par 4 hole the golf ace would also be an albatross. We don't even want to dream about a golf ace on a par 5 hole and think about what this should be called. In most high-quality professional golf tournaments, players have the opportunity to win a valuable prize with a golf ace on a predetermined golf hole. This is usually a car provided by a sponsor. The sponsor in turn takes out insurance in advance if a player really does manage to score a golf ace. In amateur golf, on the other hand, the clocks tick a little differently. Here, a golf ace can be rather expensive for the player. An unwritten golf law states that a player who hits a golf ace must invite all other players to the clubhouse for a drink at the end of the round of golf.But how possible is a golf ace really?
Despite the difficulty, several golfers in golf history have managed to hit several hole-in-ones. The record holder is the American golfer Norman Manley, who managed an incredible 59 hits. The longest ace was hit by Robert Mitera on a par 4 about 400 meters away.
As you can see, it is not impossible. Just try your luck at chipping or pitching - landing a hit here can give you a real feeling of happiness.
Proper preparation for a golf ace
If you want to get from the tee to the hole in just one shot, you can't leave the golf shot entirely to chance and luck. In addition to a straight and undeflected golf shot, the most important thing is the correct alignment to the target. These two factors, combined with playing tactics and luck, can make the impossible possible.
