Tee markers - Golf ABC online

When we give golf lessons on a course for the first time and stand at the first hole, we leave our golf students standing on the tee without any instructions. Only after a few minutes do we then say - "so let's go - let's tee off!" After a short break, everyone grabs their driver - then it gets quiet, everyone looks around helplessly and then asks "and where?" For many beginners, the teeing ground is not always recognizable at first glance - this shows once again how important it is for beginners to be trained in the rules and labels. Also, a driver is not always the best choice of club - irons and hybrids can also be sufficient and strategically better, depending on the length of the hole.

Rules and etiquette: Tee markers

The first thing to look at is the tee marker board: not only does it contain all the important information about the current hole, it also makes it easier to find out where the relevant markers are located. Often the tees can be quite far apart. You're probably wondering why we always talk about tee markers. Let us now give you a detailed explanation of this technical term: "There are these markings on every golf tee. On every teeing area, two tee markers always form the front line of a virtual rectangle within which the golf ball must be teed up. The golfer himself may stand outside this area, only the ball must lie within the boundary area. Tee markers have different colors, which in turn stand for different playing strengths and the two genders female or male. The rule is that the women's markers are usually placed closer to the hole than the men's markers. The colors of the markers vary from course to course, but the following color division generally applies:

  • white stands for professionals,
  • yellow for men,
  • black for professionals,
  • red for ladies,
  • orange for seniors and
  • blue for seniors.

The tee information can be found in various shapes. They are often round balls in the shape of a golf ball, but wooden blocks, stones or advertising boards from sponsors are also often used as markers. "

Tee markers: Avoid penalty points
Have we now been able to give you the answer to this term and provide you with further helpful tips in your daily golfing life? At least we hope so - because in golf it is simply a must to know the most important terms! Wondering why? In this sport, there are penalty points for every wrong move. In no other sport is this as pronounced as in golf! In plain language and in relation to the term, this means that if a gentleman tees off from a ladies' tee, he is behaving contrary to the rules - so he even gets penalty points for it! So you can see how important it is to be familiar with the conditions, words and the associated rules. As you know, penalty points are the easiest points to influence and therefore avoid in golf! If we have unfortunately used other technical terms in this text that you are not yet familiar with, please take this as an opportunity to make further use of our Golf ABC.
