The fairway wood is often simply called a golf wood and, as the name suggests, is a club used mainly on the fairway. The main purpose of this club is to make it possible to achieve great distance from the fairway too, so that you can reach the green in as few strokes as possible on a long par 4 or par 5. The longer the holes on a golf course, the greater the need to buy a fairway wood.
Nevertheless, as an amateur you shouldn't take this club lightly. Since the ball may not be teed up on the fairway, it is very difficult to make the still fairly large clubhead glide precisely and correctly across the fairway. We therefore advise you to book a lesson with a pro you trust when you buy a fairway wood. Of course, design and choice of colour are not at all decisive for a good golf shot. Nevertheless, don't underestimate the power of a good feeling and an attractive look.
