Ecco was founded in 1963 by the Toosbuy family in a small town called Bredebro in southwestern Denmark. The company remains family-owned to this day. Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak, daughter of Birte and Karl Toosbuy, is the sole owner of Ecco and chairwoman of the supervisory board. Her husband, Dieter Kasprzak, also works in the family business as a managing director. Originally, the world-renowned shoe manufacturer Ecco had nothing to do with the production of golf shoes.
