Scotch Foursome: Types of golf

scotch-foursome

In a Scotch Foursome, a team of four players plays together with only one ball. Each player takes it in turns to hit the ball from the tee into the hole. The tee shots are also alternated. Player 1 tees off on holes 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17. Player 2 tees off on holes 2, 6, 14 and 18, player 3 on holes 3, 7 and 15 and player 4 on holes 4, 8 and 16. This is determined in advance of the round. The preferences of the individual players can be taken into account. Penalty strokes also have no influence on the order of play. To determine the handicap in the Scotch Foursome, the handicaps of the four team players are usually added together and divided by four. This results in the team handicap.
