In the string competition, each participant receives a piece of string adapted to their current handicap, or their playing handicap. As a rule, you receive 1 meter of string for each handicap stroke. During the round of golf, the player can use the string in any desired situation and move the ball along the length or partial length of the string in order to either get out of a bad situation or to hole the ball. The used piece of string is cut off and as soon as the string is used up, the game normally continues as a counting game. If the string has not been used up by the end of the 18-hole round, the player will not receive any further credit towards his total score.
