What is speed golf? Speed golf is about playing a round of golf as quickly as possible with as few strokes as possible. One minute is counted as one golf shot. To calculate the final result in speed golf, the number of strokes and the time required in minutes are added together. In professional speed golf tournaments, the pros play a complete round of golf over 18 holes. The speed golfer is accompanied by a caddy who is allowed to use a golf cart. However, it often happens that the golf cart is slower than the speed golf pros themselves. Of course, all official golf rules and golf etiquette must also be observed and followed when playing speed golf. There is only one exception: the flag must not be removed from the hole when putting on the green. There is therefore no penalty for hitting the flag. This saves a little time and energy. The bunkers also do not have to be raked.
Speedgolf - the German record
Play 18 holes of golf in just 42 minutes! Do you think that's possible? Yes, it is! In 1999, Christoph Knapp completed the hilly 18 holes at the Teutoburger Wald Golf Club in Halle, Westphalia, in just 76 strokes. In doing so, he beat the top international competition at the "1st International Gerry Weber Speed Golf Championship" and achieved a sensational third place. Since then, he has been the undisputed fastest golfer in Germany and ranks among the top 10 speed golfers in the world. Sixth place in the world rankings was a top ranking that no other German speed golfer has been able to achieve to date.
