Golf tournaments in China, such as the WGC-HSBC Champions, are usually very lucrative for the golf pros. The first WGC-HSBC Champions were held in 2005 and take place annually in November at the Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. In April 2009, it was announced that the tournament had now achieved World Golf Championships status, making it the fourth tournament of its kind in the world.
