None other than golf legend Jack Nicklaus had the plans for "The Memorial Tournament" at Muirfield Village Golf Club. The name, Memorial Tournament, was chosen at the request of Jack Nicklaus. It is the PGA Tour's way of honoring and remembering a person or persons, living or deceased, who have made a conspicuous mark on the game of golf. The dream of a memorial tournament on the US PGA Golf Tour was realized as early as the spring of 1976 and has been an integral part of the tournament calendar ever since.
