The golf association in the west of Germany is one of the largest state golf associations in the Federal Republic. More than 150 golf clubs are affiliated to the Golf Association. Golf in Cologne and Golf Dortmund, with two large cities, are prime examples of golf in NRW. The Golf in NRW association is jointly responsible for compliance with the rules of golf and golf etiquette, as well as for organizing the state competitions for teams and individuals. Ladies, men, seniors, young seniors and juniors are supported by the Golfverband Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. and have the opportunity to take part in numerous ranking list competitions and championships, e.g. at Golf in Cologne. Three youth squads serve to promote young talent in the association. Depending on the age group, players can qualify for the D4 squad, the D3 squad or the D2 squad. Various training bases, such as the GC Hummelbachaue near Düsseldorf, are available to junior golfers. Golf in Dortmund training facilities and the Golf in Cologne bases are also available. A regional coach is available at each base to provide the squad players with advice and support.
